Life with the Wild Things

Just another mom of 2 boys in a house full of energy!

Santa is coming! December 24, 2011

Well, it is 7 AM.  I have been up for over an hour.  Santa is coming tonight!

I can’t believe 2011 is almost coming to a close!  Of course for those of us moms who prep Santa for Christmas morning.  It will be a busy 24 hours.  I have been up for an hour and I don’t know if there is enough time to get everything done!

I want the house clean and laundry done before mass tonight so I can enjoy Christmas tomorrow.  HA HA!  Like moms ever get a day off.

So far I have let the dog out and then back in.  Just for her to pee on the wild things’ bathroom floor (thanks, Bella!).  One would think the only other girl in the house would help me out by not making a mess.  So now I have extra laundry to do from cleaning up after Bella.

The boys are still nestled in bed one with each grandmother!  Thank goodness for that.

Breakfast is cooking in the oven.  Thank goodness for fundraisers.  It’s a butter braid from our city’s ballet company (thanks, Regan and Selena)!

I have written 2 letters to the wild things.  One from our elf on the shelf bidding them farewell for 2011.  Warning he will be popping in during 2012 to see how they are behaving.  One from Santa telling them how proud he is of them this year.

Next, I will make the grocery list because yesterday we went to Super Target to by Christmas dinner by memory and ended up spending way to much with little to show for it!  Got home and discovered I was still missing several items.  What the….

Then, make cookies for Santa, veggies for Rudolph and the other reindeer, and goodies for the elves…yes, I said the elves.  Thanks to Prep and Landing…we make goodies for elves!

Then, make tonight’s dinner.  Something easy like lasagna and salad.  Start preparing tomorrow’s meal today so I can relax tomorrow (LOL).

Of course this all has to be completed by 4 PM so we can attend Mass tonight.  Which will help me regroup and remember why we celebrate Christmas in the first place.

Regroup and  remind my wild things why we celebrate Christmas.

Back home to fight with the wild things about going to bed.  Finish the Santa activities…setting out the gifts, etc.

Fall into bed at some point before midnight.

Then tomorrow morning when they wake up and we see the joy on their face from the magic of Santa, well, it will all be worth the craziness from today!

Merry Christmas to all of you!  May the joy of Christmas fill your hears and May Santa fill your stockings!
